Recipe // Perfect French Pressed Coffee

I am of the (exceptionally bourgeoise) opinion that the best home-brewed coffee comes from a French press. I know, I'm ridiculous. Except I'm not, because I'm totally right about this one, guys.

Obviously, starting with a good quality coffee is key, but the French press method of brewing is my favorite that I've tried at home. My favorite local coffee spot in Nashville prefers a pour-over method, which I'd say is definitely a cleaner and lighter cup of coffee, but I've never tried this method at home. Pour-overs result in a pretty pure cup -- no residue at the bottom of the cup -- but I actually like the thickness that can result from French pressed coffee. It's a strong, mean cup of joe, and you get all the complex flavors of the coffee that a coffee maker can destroy. (Plus, no gross overheated plastic chemicals.) You'll be doing that fancy bag of beans a lot more justice, too.

Try some of these coffee brands to kick off your day right: Intelligentsia, Stumptown, Counter Culture, and local to Nashville roasters Crema, Steadfast, and Bongo Java.

Cheers, morning warriors.
